[11 Nov 2007|10:26pm]
hello hello everybody, sorry i vanished off the face of the earth for so long. i've been getting settled in the the new house with james in great falls. i am in process of finding a job and from the looks of it so far, i should have one within a few days. there is a very promising outlook at a couple places. anyhoo, not much has been going on. i have been doing the housewife thing while getting things settled. i held off on the job hunt so i could be around when the in-laws came....only to find out james was able to get time off last minute due to training cancellations so yeah, it's frustrating. we have found some good places to go mudding which is fun. i've met quite a few people and have found out that the whole "officer wife" stigma is starting to go away. heh, don't get me wrong, there are a few i have met who i cannot stand, but for the most part they are great people. james is doing some officer training in alabama right now but he should be home the middle of december.

i haven't really missed lj that much and am thinking about quitting it for a while but who knows. i have facebook which i use everyday so if anybody else has that you can search for me by my maiden name :-) briana heilman and yes, i still don't have a myspace and don't plan on getting one anytime soon so facebook is the best way.

well, i hope everybody is doing well out there and be safe!

after a minor break... [18 Aug 2007|12:38am]
[ mood | tired ]

James and I are now married! As of August 3rd! We had a nice little ceremony, just the size we wanted...especially for having just the couple of weeks to plan it. The reception was very nice too, I was able to talk to pretty much everybody and catch up a little with everyone.

Went to Couer d'Alene, Idaho, last weekend as a lil honeymoon. We hope to have a real type of honeymoon sometime next summer in Hawaii.

I haven't been able to post much since the past few weeks of my internship has been keeping me very busy. During my breaks I had to go across campus a few times to do paperwork to make everything official since documents wouldn't open properly on email for both my supervisor and I. So yeah, I finished up the last day of my internship on Wednesday and hopefully made everything official with it today. This means if it all goes through ok which it should...I will be done with Central!!! YAY!!!

I check out in about 12 hours from my apartment. All my stuff is packed up and waiting to go home. Although the majority of it is in Great Falls already in our house we were able to get on base. It was a good think the wait list for base housing was, well, none. So my mom is coming over in my grandpa's truck tomorrow morning so we can get the futon loaded up and some shelf units then I will say good bye to Ellensburg.

So the base housing-
It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, single story with a huge basement, nice sized living room, TONS of storage, garage, shared lawn, new appliances, yadda yadda. So I will head over there probably around the 28th or 29th of this month. I will definately miss WAshington!

I said before that I would post some pictures, don't really feel like going to Photobucket to upload the pics then copy and past them so I will do the easier way. ;-) Before you go look at them, I probably won't post again until I am settled in Great Falls so it will be a couple of weeks again. Please don't take me off your friends list cause I haven't commented or been around much, I have been very very busy but will be able to have my free time back in a couple of weeks. Ok, on with the pics!!!

wedding stuff = fun stuff [27 Jul 2007|08:44am]
[ mood | content ]

James will be into e-burg around dinner tonight so it sounds like we are going to meet up at a restaurant somewhere. He's near Redding, CA right now so it's about an 8 hour drive or so. Then tomorrow we will be headed to Yakima to check out some more details for the wedding and look for rings if we don't see any in town. I have checked out a couple of jewelry store in town and have seen a couple of possibilities so who knows.

Then I get to put my public speaking skills to the test when I get to introduce myself, the athletic training duties, and what I would like the coaches and athletes to do as far as water, first aid kits and whatnot. Not only will I give that talk with the directors and coaches, but also to about 300 girls. Then I get to chill outside on the field with my golf cart supplied with supplies, kits, and water and watch the softballers and wait for somebody to get hurt. At least James will be there to keep me company for a couple days of it. It's supposed to be 100+ too this next week so not really looking forward to that aspect.

Just about 3 more weeks and I will be done with college, married, and working on packing up everything of mine and headed to Montana...where did the time go?!

long awaited update [24 Jul 2007|11:49pm]
[ mood | busy ]

even thought i have been busy the past month or so, not much has been going on really...sorta...

i have been working 14 hour days which pretty much wipes out a day worth of doing anything fun since i am done late at night and work early the next morning, typically outside in 90-100* weather. overall the athletes are good about coming to us with no attitudes but there have been a few times we have had to tone some people down. i am really liking athletic training and am hoping to get my masters in it later on down the road once james and i finish up the couple year duty station in montana.

we set a date for our wedding!!! not going to say the date until after the fact, sorry. it is coming up very, VERY quick and we are putting it together in less than three weeks. we want it to be a close friends and family type of deal and don't really have all the resources handy to make a wedding like first planned in that short of time. i will try my best to post up some pics after the wedding and tell you the date and all that hopefully before i am done at cwu and still have internet access.

i know it's kinda selfish to keep it a secret but i don't want lots of people asking when it is and if they can come since we have our guest list done and figured out, so sorry! gotta love the military, eh?

just wanted to update real quick since i haven't for a while. oh yeah, james is leaving cali on thursday and should be here friday so we can finally spend time together again. so he will be in the area for a couple of weeks :-)

busy few weeks [07 Jul 2007|05:30pm]
[ mood | busy ]

Haven't done much besides my internship for the past week or so. I work anywhere from 12-15 hour days with a constant flow of people to work on. The days go by fairly quick and for the most part the athletes are alright to deal with. Just a few that I want to throw something at. Haven't really had too many good injuries since I am working a wrestling camp and basketball camp an hour at a time when they need me which is about every other day.

My pride and joy injury though is a guy who came in with a large gash between his eyes. Like...a constant stream of blood coming out. I got it stopped in just a minute or two and put on some steri-strips (artificial stitches). During dinner break, he went to the hospital and ended up getting 8 stitches. The doc said that whoever worked on him before did an excellent job fixing him up. The trainer I was working with also said that I couldn't have done any better. So that was cool!

Another couple highlights:
-I used the "trainer power" to keep a kid out of practice since he was very dehydrated and exhausted and really couldn't walk. Coach wanted him in and the kid was not ready to by any means!

-I got asked to work the couple women's football games this month which is going to be great since I can tape ankles now and do more than just make ice bags and play water girl.

-I was filling up a 10 gallon water cooler on a old wobbly cart in our wet area in the training room. It was sitting at just the right angle on the sloped floor that it tipped. My first thought was save the cooler so I don't get in trouble. I did that! I also saved the cart courtesy of my knee. So now I have a sweet looking bruise that I can now show off. :-D

That's about it for now. I am goign to have a few days off starting mid week next week so I can go home and enjoy time home for once. That's about it, hope everyboyd is doing well, I am going to try to catch up with everybody's journal while I still have a few minutes left. Take care!

football camps done [28 Jun 2007|01:12am]
The football camps are finally done with and I am so happy! I ended up being the trainer to rip this lil punk ass a new one though. By the end of the camp he was treating us like actual people and was even being nice to us. Wierd, I guess you don't want to piss the people off who are the ones keeping you in shape to play. Unless you have flat feet. Cause apparently if you have flat feet you can't play football...I wasn't aware of this new tidbit of info, LOL Whatever...he's a freshman...

We were very understaffed for a 1,200+ football camp but we managed to get through it. Now I have a few days off before a wrestling camp that I start with on Monday. So I am going to have a nice weekend off. The plan is to go back to the westside, maybe even back to Redmond to see my old boss, who knows.

Between the trainers and my friends, I am starting to become a regular at The Tav. Kinda a fun to see so many of the exercise science people there. One good perk about being a trainer during some of the camps is free beer! Only I don't like beer much, I am a Hard A type of person but oh well.

I am still around, just don't check my lj much since 13 hour days tend to wear me out. Not to mention it's outside in 90* weather, standing, running to fields, doing water, and dealing with whiney football players. So anyway, I am off to bed now. Hope everybody is doing well!

bored... [26 Jun 2007|06:28pm]
I have just been working about 13 hour days the past few days and don't really have much to update on. In a nutshell I have taped MANY ankles, dealt with whiney football players, came home and gone to bed each night. So here is this to entertain me. :-)

Comment and I will...
1. Tell you why I friended you (assuming I have).
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Associate you with a character/pairing. (presumably different from 2)
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7. Tell you my favourite user pic of yours.
8. In return, you may post this in your LJ.

sick and twisted [19 Jun 2007|07:07pm]
[ mood | drained ]

This may sound sick and twisted but we had a player go down and dislocated his hip today. So cool! I was hoping it would be completely deformed like pictures I had seen but it was just out of socket, pushed forward, and twisted up pretty good. We might have seen more if the padding weren't there but oh well. The kid handled it very good too, I would have been screaming!!!

the update [18 Jun 2007|06:17pm]
[ mood | drained ]

LOTS of things have been going on since I last posted:

I graduated! Almost....I am doing my athletic training internship right now and have about 370 hours left to finish. So I got to walk for my college graduation ceremonies. My cousins and I then went out to celebrate for the next couple of nights then I went back to the westside of the mountains to see family before I become a marathon ankle taper.

Just did the usual family thing when I was back home. Got to go onto Ft. Lewis a few times with my sis to get a few things done before her husband came back from Iraq (which he did a couple nights ago).

Figured out some more definate plans for the wedding....
We aren't going to do a big ceremony. Both of us didn't want it in the first place, we were just going to do it for the families. Also since the duty that James will be pulling in Montana isn't flexible (at all) we have pretty much a 0 chance of anything big next summer. So he is going to burn up leave time on his way to Montana and we are going to do a courthouse thing or else a VERY SMALL family and close friends only type of thing either over here or over near my dad's house near Tacoma on one of the beaches that he lives by then do a reception at his house since he has a good size house. Our families are happy for that and understand why. So hopefully that will go down the first week in August. The plus side of that is that we can get our name on the base housing list since the wait list right now is just about a month which will be perfect for when I finally can make it over here.

So I came back to school late Friday night so I could watch my cousin graduate. Started my internship with a volleyball camp. Not much to do there except tape an ankle or two and hand out lots of band-aids due to the basketball textured floor that they took some good slides on. Did the evening football camp yesterday since I was in charge of the last part of volleyball. Taped a few ankles and made ice bags. But today...MARATHON ANKLE TAPING!!! Also got to tape up many wrists and thumbs. Got to help a couple people off the field, observe many injury assesment tests, and got to bandage up some GOOD cuts and turf burns.

I probably won't be updating much during the week since I am working lots of 13+ hour days and just want to go to bed when I get back home. On the plus side of the crappy hours that go for 10 days at a time...I get free food. :-D So it's all good.

I have to catch up on journals that I get to do daily for the internship. Luckily I am just behind 3 days versus 5 weeks like some of my friends.

Hope everybody is doing well!

time for a real update, finally [07 Jun 2007|08:04am]
[ mood | mellow ]

Seattle Majestics:
I ended up going back to Seattle to work a women's football game which was awesome! I even got invited out to play with them next year but won't be able to since I'm headed to Montana. If it wasn't for that minor detail, I totally would. I've always wanted to play full contact, hard hitting football! I can walk the talk too, I have some good skills. ;-) So I played the role of watergirl most of the time, got to help off a knee injury with the head trainer, and helped to tape and untape players. I am finding out more and more, this is what I want to do as my career!! Here are some pictures in case ya wanna see em
http://cwu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2032212&l=4e978&id=39203133

Finals:
I had the last two finals of my CWU career on Tuesday and passed them both. I have checked my grades and all that and I should end up with at least a 3.8. Chances are I'll get a 4.0 depending on if my public speaking prof bumps me up since I am only .5 away from a true A according to speech grades. Her overall grade system may be different than her speech guidelines but we never got that info or the cutoff marks for grades. So let's hope! What a way to leave CWU, haven't pulled a 4.0 since 9th grade!

School in general:
The roomies and I are doing good. I am just passing time for the next week and a half until I start my internship as a student athletic trainer for high school sports camps. I am registered officially for my internship and have been billed my tuition. And finally, I am at my last day of real work in the computer labs. From here on till I finish in mid-August I will be on sub status since my internship is going to have some odd hours. I am going to miss this job. I don't think I will be able to watch movies or do homework and be paid for it in the future.

Yesterday:
Ended up calling the person who is set to work after my shift in an hour early since something came and decided to make me feel like I got hit by a truck or something. I was fine when we opened, then all the sudden I became very tired, nauseated (but not enough to be sick), had the shakes, couldn't stand up for long, vision became distorted. So I went home, heh, don't really remember walking home. Slept from noon to 3:30, got up ate some soup, went back to bed until close to 7. Even with all that sleep, I managed to get to bed just an hour after my usual time.

Today and the weekend:
I work until 1 today then am going to do some laundry. Clean the apartment and finish hanging stuff up on my walls since I decided to redo my room last night. Wake up early tomorrow, have breakfast with my VFW people. My family is going to start coming in during the afternoon sometime. Hang out with them for a bit. Then meet my cousins and go out tomorrow night. Since the lil cuz is only 18, we can still go out to places that are very much a bar atmosphere but aren't. Then walk for graduation on Saturday, have the family bbq that night, go to some parties late that night. Go home on Sunday. Come back good time Friday for my internship which will start on Saturday.

Alright, that was a long update, if you stayed with it, congrats to you. :-)

Apparently a there was a phone call to whoever on campus saying that there was a telephone bomb set to go off in the science building today. I hate jackass people who do this for shits and giggles...

last real week of college [31 May 2007|10:13am]
[ mood | accomplished ]

Well I am almost done with college! Just today and tomorrow of "classes" then a couple finals on Tuesday. I might actually pull a 4.0 this quarter, if not that, then very close to it. Not really too hard since I am really only taking two classes.

The fitness lab practicum is done
The training room practicum is nearly done, I just have to help work a professional women's football game this Saturday in Seattle.
Public speaking is done except for a final
Noninfectious disease is done except for an online final

Where has the time gone?! Won't be done on June 9th for me though even though I'll be walking for graduation. I still have my 10 week internship this summer that I found out everything will be paid for and I will be getting some good money too for it.

Okay, that's all I have for an update now. As far as the wedding stuff goes, we still don't know but might have some hope since there is talk (it's military though, talk doesn't mean much until its orders) that he might not have to go to Alabama until November. So who knows. We can pull it off in less than a week if we have to, we have done that much planning already. :-D

wedding + Air Force = frustrations! [29 May 2007|08:09am]
[ mood | bridezilla ]

I went home hoping to have it be a relaxing weekend, not so much. It was just a stressful weekend and I probably would have been better off with the long weekend at school. Oh well.

Then talk came up about the wedding again. The thing is, we don't know when we are going to have it yet, it all depends on this Alabama school that James has to go to. He keeps hearing "you'll know within a month", and that's the line everybody has been hearing for the past few months. My dad has something he would like to go to on the east coast the same weekend that we have the tentative date set. He is torn since he wants to do both. Since we don't have a date set, that is throwing the other thing off for him. Yadda yadda yadda. So here are some options if you choose to read them...

home for the weekend [25 May 2007|01:40pm]
[ mood | tired ]

I am having the start of a hopefully good weekend. Just had an hour of work today because of the drama going on earlier in the week in the lab. So I got to my maximum amount of hours I can work in a week very quick. Then I met my "adopted grandpa" and other VFW people at one of the cafes in town for some food. Killed a few hours then got to the training room and found out that was closed too for the weekend.

So now I am headed to the westside, mainly to Puyallup and Tacoma to spend time with my family since I didn't get much of a chance last week and time is starting to get limited with my internship and the wedding.

So I am headed out about 5 hours earlier than expected. Have a good weekend!

I feel like I'm in a 12 step program [24 May 2007|08:08am]
[ mood | good ]

Well 12 step, anger management, something along those lines where at the end of the program there's a celebration of somekind and you get phone numbers of people to keep in touch with. It really feels that way in my public speaking class which is kinda funny. So the huge majority of us only took the class cause it is in our requirements for our major. NOBODY wanted to take this class! You know how when you are with other people (no matter the situation) and you don't want to do something, or are scared, nervous, anything like that...then in the end you just kinda bond? That's my class!

We had a bbq last night and some people came out for it. So much fun! I wish I didn't have lab so late but I got there at 7 when it started at 5. We ate shortly after I got there, got to play with a couple of the kiddies that someone in our class has. Played some soccer, laughed about the class, all that kind of stuff.

I say it's like a 12 step program or something because I just watched Anger Management with Adam Sandler last week and they had that bbq type of thing too. I do believe I have made a few friends I will keep in touch with for a long time! :-D

Oh, and I have my last speech today! Hard to believe graduation ceremonies are just around the corner! Where have the past 4 years gone?! I still have to do my internship, but that'll be fun though. It's athletic training, it's what I wanna do with the rest of my life :-)

the weekend! [21 May 2007|08:38am]
[ mood | lonely ]

I am back from the weekend and am missing James. But we had a great weekend! His flight came in on time and we drove down to Lacey and got our hotel room.

Got up the next morning and went and saw my family. We found out a couple days prior to that that we weren't needed to be anywhere until later on that day so he wanted to see my family since they were just 45 min or so away. So we did that which was lots of fun. My nephew really took to James even though he hadn't seen him since the holidays. After that we went back to the hotel and passed some time until we had to go to the rehearsal.

Found the place we needed to be after a few wrong turns since the groom thought we were coming in the opposite direction. The rehearsal did not take long at all, it was the quickest one I have been to. The groom was asked to have dinner with the brides family so James and I along with another good friend of ours went out to Denny's. Then we all went back to our room and watched TV until we got invited out to one of the bars in Olympia. Got back and went right to bed.

Slept in until 9 or so, got our stuff packed up, clothes laid out in the car, stopped by Walmart for some last minute things and off to help set up for the wedding. Got changed, laughed hysterically with everybody else since the ordained minister (one of the groom's close friends) kept saying he was the voice of god and then started rapping. Not sure if he knew that the sound system was wired so the whole building could hear him.
Had the wedding, a very quick one! Had some great food during the reception! James was at the head table since he was in the wedding party so I ate with one of my friends from high school who I haven't seen for a long time. Her and the bride are friends...it's a small world. So we talked about Everclear since I still lke them and she knows them on somewhat of a personal level since her b/f played in a band with the current bassist with Everclear, yadda yadda yadda.

Left there early so James could make his flight and I drove back to E-burg from the airport last night with pouring down rain the whole time.

I think I said before that I would have some pictures so here they are. I'm too lazy now to put them on photobucket so I got the link to my Facebook. If they don't open right, let me know and I'll try something else

My speech and a bar fight! [17 May 2007|08:08am]
[ mood | calm ]

I gave my speech yesterday and knocked it out of the park!! I believe my speech is going to be the one to beat. I'm not trying to be all cocky and have a huge ego...but it's true. According to my peer evaluations and from what the prof said first hand, my content and delivery was superb! On the peer evals I got mainly 5's with some 4's scattered here and there.

But the thing that really set the bar was my visuals! I had the 3-1-1 rule of liquids in a carry on that I showed to the class and an awesome picture of foot fungus to explain problems with taking shoes off at the airport. But, the main visual was my carry on. I had it filled with stuff anybody would take with them. I also brought in a bin and took off my own shoes, belt, emptied out my pockets and dumped out my bag because the TSA people "thought" I was suspicious. I believe it was that action that set me over the top of everything. The only thing that it looks like I may be marked down on is going over by 53 seconds. Grade wise, I will get marked down. But compared to how much people have been going over, heh, I'm still on time. So yeah, very happy!

This was our longest speech (around 10 minutes), worth a good 1/3 of our grade, and had to follow very strict guidelines. And I did it!! I can't wait to get my grade next week! I'm a nerd, so what :-)

After the speech, I got to work in the fitness lab and we were talking about going out to The Tav for dinner after. So one of my good friends and I did and had a great time! Got the usual garlic cheddar mother burger and wanted to play pool but there was a big wait. So we went next door to The Frontier and played some pool and suddenly we started seeing police everywhere!!! Apparently just a couple minutes after we left, a HUGE fight broke out at The Tav! All of the city police were called in and the campus force was called in for back up. Since I know several of the police I went out with my pool cue and a Mike's Hard (yes, I brought it out in the public, everybody does over here lol) and talked with a few of them and it sounds like some people from the westside came over, got trashed, started stuff with a lady and her b/f came over and confronted them. Well it was a 5 on 1 fight and the b/f got knocked unconscious. So yeah, that was some excitement. I love being 21 lol
